3 Tips for Softening Your Beard

A healthy, hydrated beard is soft and manageable, but sometimes your beard can get itchy and scruffy, especially when it’s first growing in. That can make it very uncomfortable for you and for those around you.

Get Rid of Split Ends

Just like the hair on your head, your beard can develop split ends, which make it scratchy and rough. Split ends can be caused by the hair being too long, improper styling, and poor quality styling tools.

To fix these problems, give your beard a trim, use beard oils and balms, and make sure your tools are good quality and that you take good care of them. Be gentle when styling.

Hydrate

Your beard could be itchy because you’re not getting enough water. Dehydration comes in two ways: when you don’t use products that moisturize your beard, and when you don’t drink enough water. It’s no surprise that your hair benefits from the water that you put in your body, so drink up!

Getting enough hydration will soften your beard hair so you don’t have to use so many products on it. Though using some moisturizing products is never a bad idea.

Use Beard Oil and Balms

This is especially important in the cold weather months, as cold air sucks moisture out of your beard. When you’re showering shampoo and condition your beard just as you would your hair. When you get out of the shower apply some beard oil or balm for extra moisture.
